Kardikoppa Village stay


Introduction:
As a part of village study we Chandru Lamani, Fathima, Devadanam and Mahanthaswami were posted to Karadikoppa village. Before that Mr. Prakash Bhatt took theory classes to all fellows for 6 days. On 10th Feb we had PRA in Kamplikoppa village. After that on 11th Feb we all went to Karadikoppa village.

Location:
Karadikoppa is a small village of Hubli taluk, which is 17 KM away. It is 40 KM away from district HQ Dharwad. This village had situated on the bank of Shalmal Kuradikeri, Inamveerapur, Bommasamudra, Kamplikoppa and Mishrikoti are the surrounding villages to Karadikoppa. We stayed in Mahadevi Sidlingannavar’s house.

HISTORY:
VILLAGE HAS 100 YEARS HISTORY
KARADI MEANS BEAR AND KOPPA MEANS SETTLEMENT
EARLIER IT WAS A THICK FOREST AND USE TO LIVE BEARS
100 YEARS BACK THE WHOLE VILLAGE SHIFTED ON THE HILL BECAUSE OF HEAVY RAINFALL

I VISITED Munduvarike Kalika Shikhan(Adult Education):

Its started in 2003
Facilitator Mrs Fathima Attingudd
Daily four (8am to 10am & 8pm to 10pm) hours
Main office in Belagali
Zillah Panchayat providing all instruments are free
Programs: sewing class and Rangoli competition for women. And sports competition for men
This Education for only 15 to 35 aged people
Only 25% improving

Discussion with Sthri-Shakti Sangh in karadikoppa.:

Sthri shakti Sangh started in 19-1-2001
Four groups are there
Loan took by two groups –3,60,000/- and 1,25,000 Rs subsidy
Remaining two Groups 1,00,000/-
Interest rate is 2%/month
Each member deposit 10 Rs in week.

PROBLEMS IN THE VILLAGE:

Lack of Sanitation/Clean.
Dominant form High cost.
Child marriage.

MY OBSERVATIONS:

LOW LITERACY RATE
HIGH HANDICAP RATE (32 PEOPLE)
180 FAMILIES DEPENDING ON AGRICULTURE
LACK OF SELF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
FEMALE POPULATION RATE IS HIGH AMONG CHILDREN
ALL STREET ROADS ARE KACCHA
THERE ARE 6 TOILETS ARE BEING USED
EDUCATED PEOPLE ARE IGNORING TO THEIR CHILDREN EDUCATION
LACK OF UNITY AND CO-OPERATION
IGNORANCE ABOUT NGO’s INTERVENTION

COLLECTING SECONDARY DATA FROM GP
WOMEN PARTICIPATION
FROM OTHER WORKING ORGANISATIONS.

WE SHOULD HAVE PATIENCE

HOW TO GET INFORMATION
HOW TO BUILD RAPPORT
USE OF INDIGENOUS TECHNOLOGY.
